SONIA TÁVORA (Rio de Janeiro, 1952) holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from Faculdades Bennett, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since 2004, she has dedicated herself to the visual arts in its various forms. From 2005 to 2010, she attended the Escola de Artes Visuais at Parque Lage, Rio de Janeiro. In 2006, she joined Projeto Impresso, a group of artists exploring the aesthetic practices of printmaking. Since 2018, she has participated in the artist collective from cultural association NowHere Lisboa, an experimental laboratory for contemporary art. Her work conceptualizes image and spatial occupation, activating poetic reflections between painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and video. Her research explores themes related to memory, the ephemeral, erasure, belonging, and transience. She lives and works between Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon.
